Synchrony kicks off PMAP partnership with a series of Learning Sessions

MANILA, PHILIPPINES. Synchrony Global, a leading provider of cloud-based HR solutions and services, started its partnership with People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP), the largest HR association in the country, with the first of five Learning Sessions that aims to educate PMAP’s members with the latest cloud-based technology and enhance their Human Capital Management skills.

The first session, held last November 12, 2015, dubbed as “Learning Management System (LMS): Build Competency, Improve Talent Retention & Address Compliance” was well-attended by mostly HR Learning Administrators and Managers who are seeking to increase their knowledge on LMS – from its history to the current trends of learning and cloud-based systems that will aid them in performing their jobs better.

The attendees were privileged to have SAP SuccessFactors Director, Learning Products & Strategy for Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ) Laura Hunt, who has more than 20-year experience as a Learning Management guru. Hunt has seen the development of LMS and has implemented LMS projects for some of the largest multi-national corporations across the globe.

LMS are web-based or software applications that allow companies and educational institutions to deliver content and resources to their learners and manage their delivery. These systems often provide easy ways for instructors to create and deliver their content while simultaneously monitoring participation and assessing performance.

Laura Hunt emphasized to the participants the difference between a ‘training culture’ and ‘learning culture’ at work.

Hunt said, “Adapting LMS in your organization can help you create a ‘learning culture’. It will simplify the learning process and make learning courses more accessible to your workforce. Having LMS will make each employee more responsible for their own learning and share the accountability of upgrading their own skills and competencies without relying on HR.”

In the session, the participants learned about the evolution of the learning environment at the workplace. It was said that the working environment has evolved from not just being a multi-cultural arena of talents but it has become multi-generational and multi-dimensional. There are three or even five generations of people working together in an organization. Each type requiring specific learning needs and training strategy in order for them to effectively skill up to the standard asked of them by their employers.

Learning Management has become very critical especially with the fast-paced millennials who has easy access to knowledge through the net. Transforming the methods of learning and managing, tracking it for compliance that has become a mandate of most industries and governing bodies is now vital for the survival of organizations who need to retain their precious talent base.

One of the most critical roles of HR is providing learning opportunities for employees to grow, succeed and be retained. HR professionals need to be updated with the latest tools and technologies that can aid and equip them be better people managers and learning advocates.

Thus, Synchrony Global found it fitting to conduct their first sponsored Learning Session with PMAP to be about LMS. There will be four more Learning Sessions that shall be scheduled during the first quarter of 2016.
